Raspas and the Beach

The weekend is here and I can finally relax, but I shouldn’t complain too much because oddly enough, though last weekend’s trip was tremendously exhausting, I came back feeling refreshed.

We began our trek right after I got off work at around 5, drove 15 hours loaded on energy drinks and junk food. I can’t begin to explain how disgusting I felt afterwards. I don’t know why I ever think it a good idea to drink so many energy drinks and junk. We made it there early morning the next day and as soon as we got there we just couldn’t resist the opportunity of going to the beach. Who in their right mind would, right?

But first, we HAD TO stop and get some raspas. Raspas (spanish for sno-cones) are only one of the most deliciously-mouth watering treats my hometown has to offer. My favorite is the Leche flavored, my mouth is salivating already.

After I had my dose of greatness we drove to the beach and I could feel every bit of me beginning to awaken. I love the beach, I don’t know why I decided to live so far away from it. It always makes me feel magical. I haven’t felt the desire for taking pictures lately, which is why on this trip the pictures are limited. I regret it now but I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired with my camera and I thought this would be my opportunity. I meant to go to the beach and just take pictures but when my feet touched the water, I knew that I was going to find it very hard to fight the urge to jump in. In the end, I realized that the easiest way to get rid of temptation was to give in — even if I was in the only pair of shorts I had brought with me. It was totally worth it because to swim in the ocean again, after a long absence, was the best feeling in the world. Well, second to the raspa because the ocean water doesn’t taste nearly as good as a raspa. Or at all for that matter.

It was also awesome to get to spend time with my Mom and family. On our drive back we went to IKEA, my personal heaven. I bought so much and yet not enough.

Well, enough blogging. I just realized that netflix has Mulan and I must watch it. 🙂
